About New Life Outreach Church

Founded over 40 years ago in Cottondale, Alabama, New Life Outreach Church has faithfully  served the Lord.  The  whole Word of God is given without compromise.  Our journey has been marked by God's faithfulness and the unwavering commitment of our members to live out the gospel in practical ways. Truly God's Word is intended not just for a Sunday service but for life 24/7 in real time in our lives.

Our Vision keeps us going.

At New Life Outreach Church, our vision is to share the transformative love of Jesus Christ, nurture spiritual growth, and serve our community with compassion and dedication. We strive to be a place where individuals and families can find hope, healing, and a sense of belonging.

What we believe.

  • Scripture: We believe that all Scripture is inspired by God and is therefore, the Word of God and carries the full authority of God. Every Scripture is profitable  for our spiritual  growth and guidance. It is the only sure foundation for a  life pleasing to God. These are  perilous times and the Word of God is our only hope to navigate our lives. Scripture may be rejected but it can never be nullified.
  • Salvation: . Faith in the completed work of Christ on the cross and His cleansing blood is the only way of salvation. We are saved by grace through faith which is gift of God. Salvation is not just eternal life after death, but grace to live  our lives every day for the Lord. We have been made the righteousness of God in Christ.
  • Resurrection; The Lord Jesus Christ died and was buried but was raised to life bodily after three days. He has ascended to be seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven.
  • Holy Spirit: The Lord Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to be with us and in us. The Spirit comes first to regenerate us to new life and then He comes in the Baptism with the Holy Spirit and the evidence of speaking in tongues. He imparts spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12) and He produces fruit of the Spirit as we yield to Him (Galatians 5): The gifts and fruit of the Spirit bring the balance of Power and Character.
  • Community: We believe in the power of fellowship and the importance of building strong, supportive relationships within the church and beyond. We welcome all who are seeking life with the Living God.
  • Service: We believe that we are to love with the love He has put within us and to serve as He taught us.
  • Christ return: We believe He is coming again. First in the Rapture for His Church and then after the Tribulation to establish His millennium Kingdom on earth.

Our Leadership

Pastor Sammy Hughes

A native of Holt, Alabama, Pastor Sammy graduated from Holt High School in 1964 and went on to earn his B.S. in Education and M.A. in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Alabama. With a rich background in education, having taught Biology at Tuscaloosa County High School and served as Guidance Counselor and Dean of Students at American Christian Academy, Pastor Sammy felt a profound call to pastoral ministry.

Not attending a traditional theological seminary, Pastor Sammy often says his pastoral education came through "Knee-ology" [prayer]. His deep commitment to prayer and his genuine love for people shine through in his leadership. In 1971, he married his beloved wife, Sue, and together they have been blessed with a wonderful family, including their son, MAJ Stephen Mark Hughes, who serves in the United States Air Force, and their daughter, Elisabeth, who is with the Lord.

With over 44 years of dedicated service to the Lord, Pastor Sammy and Sue have made a lasting impact on the lives of many. Their unwavering faith and compassionate hearts continue to inspire and uplift the New Life Outreach Church family.

Michael R. Kelley

Worship Pastor

A Tuscaloosa native, graduated from Holt High School, and then the University of Alabama with a degree in communications and voice. I gave my heart and life to the Lord at 10 years old and felt the call of the ministry in my late teens.

Married for 35 years to Kay with two adult children, Michaela and Samuel and one grandchild Beckham. An avid musician, singer, songwriter and minister I have served in the ministry for over 30 years. What I have discovered about worship by intensive study of the word is that:

“Worship is a choir of one to thousands for an audience of ONE (The Lord). I’m not a performer, or entertainer, I am an enthusiastic worshiper seeking to create an environment conducive to the movement of the Holy Spirit and what He wants to minister to us as we minister to Him through our praise and worship.”
